The Emerging Nations Science Foundation

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors that is responsible for developing programs to meet the mission and goals of the Foundation, to approve projects for funding, to promote the projects, and to assist in the governance of the Foundation through the scientific council, board of auditors and administrative staff.

The Emerging Nations Science Foundation

The Foundation offers several programs to pursue its mission-oriented goals.

Travel grants

Through its travel grants, the Foundation contributes to international cooperation and understanding among nations. This program includes requests for conference participation support aimed at assisting scientists who have been selected to present a paper or poster at a world renowned conference. Scientists may apply for partial or full conference participation support (travel, registation fee, accommodation for the duration of the event).

Fellowship for Research Visits

The Foundation offers partial and full fellowships in cooperation with other renowned research institutions from emerging nations in Asia and Africa, as well as those from technologically advanced nations. The duration of the fellowships is not only determined on a case-by-case basis, but it is also subject to earmarked funding and a balanced, geographical distribution of the funds.

Graduate Fellowships

ENSF supports a limited number of graduate fellowships under its South-South cooperation program. Students who are accepted for Master’s or PhD programs in well-known institutions from Asia and Africa qualify to apply for one or more of the following:

tuition fee up to a maximum of three years

– stipend (maximum up to three years)

– thesis fee

– travel from home country to host institution

Grants for Conferences or Workshops

Through this program the Foundations seeks to encourage a discussion on science and technology by bringing scientists from various emerging nations together to exchange experiences, knowledge and enhance their R&D capacities.

Science for Public Grants

The Foundation strongly supports science dissemination in emerging nations of Africa and Asia. By earmarking funds for science fairs, science writing competitions, the design and construction of simple scientific equipment utilizing locally available material, it encourages rational thinking and science awareness at all levels.

Prizes for Young Scientists

Through this program the Foundation aims at encouraging excellence in theoretical and experimental research.

The Emerging Nations Science Foundation
